Technical glitch halts interbank ATM transactions
Clients are now unable to use a bank's debit and credit card on other bank's automated teller machines (ATMs) because of a technical glitch in the national payment switch since 1.30pm today.
Moreover, they are unable to do interbank transactions through the windows of internet banking and banking apps.
However, clients can now only withdraw their funds through their own bank's ATMs.
A senior official of the Bangladesh Bank said the central bank's technological experts have already started to solve the glitch.
He hopes that the problem can be solved within tonight.
The National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) is a domestic ATM-sharing network governed by the BB.
Through this network, NPSB member banks' customers perform ATM transactions at other NPSB member banks' ATM terminals using their debit and credit cards.
