ICC Bangladesh recently organised a daylong workshop on capacity building for MSMEs and women entrepreneurs on the use of ICC rules in international trade at a city hotel in Chattogram.

Ataur Rahman, secretary general of ICC Bangladesh, inaugurated the workshop as the chief guest, according to a press release.

A total of 95 participants, including bankers, women entrepreneurs, and SME representatives, attended the workshop organised under the ICC headquarters.

ATM Nesarul Hoque, executive vice-president of Mutual Trust Bank PLC, conducted the workshop.

The workshop was designed to benefit MSMEs and women entrepreneurs engaged in international trade, particularly in the export of non-traditional goods.

The event provided participants with the opportunity to learn about ICC rules on international trade, understand the complexities of global trade finance, and make informed decisions to mitigate risks related to the settlement of letters of credit (L/Cs).

Capacity-building projects help SMEs and women entrepreneurs understand various ICC rules such as UCP 600, Incoterms 2020, and ISBP, which must be followed in export-import operations.

Under the capacity-building project, ICC Bangladesh has so far organised four workshops since 2024, which have been attended by 300 SME participants and women entrepreneurs.
