MAMA Lemon Liquid Dishwash launches campaign to promote kitchen hygiene
MAMA Lemon Liquid Dishwash, a popular household brand of Lion Kallol Ltd, today launched a programme, titled "Kitchen Hygiene Awareness Campaign", aimed at improving hygiene habits and food safety practices among primary school students in Bangladesh.
Okada Akiko, project formulation adviser of JICA Bangladesh, and Takeshi Hasegawa, managing director of Lion Kallol Ltd, inaugurated the campaign at Lakeshore Heights in Dhaka.
Representatives from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the University of Dhaka, Lion Kallol Ltd, Kallol Group of Companies, and other stakeholders attended the event.
The campaign is being implemented across 651 schools in Manikganj, where students in grades 3 and 4 are being taught essential habits such as proper handwashing, safe food handling, and correct dishwashing techniques. They are also being trained as "Hygiene Ambassadors" to promote these practices within their families and communities.
The programme follows a three-step training approach under JICA's Strengthening the Inspection, Regulatory and Coordinating (STIRC) Project: experts train teachers, who then train additional teachers, and finally students receive interactive lessons at school.
Speaking at the event, Akiko underscored the importance of teaching children good hygiene habits early.
"When children learn and practice hygiene, they influence their families and help build healthier communities," she said, stressing the value of public-private partnerships in creating long-term social impact.
Hasegawa highlighted Lion's global expertise in hygiene. He said education and technology together can transform everyday hygiene practices and thanked JICA for its support.
Lion Kallol Ltd, a joint venture established in 2022 between Lion Corporation Japan and the Kallol Group of Companies Bangladesh, produces several consumer products. Among them, MAMA Lemon Liquid Dishwash stands out for its advanced technology, making daily dishwashing easier and more effective.
Ghulam Mustafa, managing director of Kallol Group of Companies; Md Latiful Bari, chief scientist of the Centre for Advanced Research in Sciences; and Tonmoy Dutta Gupta, marketing director, were also present.
