NRB Bank launches prepaid payroll card with Visa
NRB Bank PLC, in collaboration with Visa, has launched Bangladesh’s first insurance-embedded card, titled the “Visa Prepaid Payroll Card”, at a ceremony held recently at its corporate head office in Gulshan-1, Dhaka.
Combining secure salary disbursement with built-in insurance benefits, the card offers a smarter, safer, and more rewarding payroll solution for employees nationwide.
Tarek Reaz Khan, managing director and CEO of the bank, and Sabbir Ahmed, country manager for Bangladesh at Visa, jointly inaugurated the card, according to a press release.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Tarek Reaz said, “The launch of Bangladesh’s first Visa Prepaid Payroll Card represents another milestone in our commitment to innovation and banking inclusion.”
“This solution will simplify payroll management for employers while offering greater convenience, safety, and accessibility for employees,” he added.
The newly launched payroll card is expected to particularly benefit industries with large workforces, including the garment, manufacturing, retail, and service sectors, by reducing the operational complexities associated with traditional cash salary distribution.
With this initiative, NRB Bank PLC continues to strengthen its role in supporting Bangladesh’s digital transformation and promoting modern payment solutions for businesses and individuals alike.
NRB Bank PLC in Bangladesh is committed to delivering innovative banking services and customer-focused digital banking solutions, the release added.
The Visa Prepaid Payroll Card has been introduced to provide employers with a secure, efficient, and fully digital method of salary disbursement.
Through this solution, organisations can transfer employee salaries directly to prepaid cards, enabling cardholders to conveniently access their funds through ATM withdrawals, point-of-sale purchases, online transactions, and bill payments.
