CAN LEADERS BE CREATED?

CAN LEADERS BE CREATED?

Rizvan Noor

Does leadership only mean leading a group of employees or leading a country? Are political leaders and business leaders the only leaders who exist? Common perception is that leaders are born but this perception has changed now to “leaders are created”. Today's evolving leaders have set a distinct view of leadership and the meaning of leadership has been redefined. There are those who are leading our youth to bring a meaningful change in the society. An example of this could be Korvi Rakshand. He is a social entrepreneur, founder of JAAGO Foundation and the president of Volunteers for Bangladesh. JAAGO is a foundation helping people below poverty line and they carry their operations with the help of young volunteers all across the country. To inspire the youth, Volunteers for Bangladesh has been established which provides these young leaders the opportunity to lead the people below poverty line, share their ideas and vision for the betterment of the nation. Another example could be Bangladesh Youth Leadership Centre (BYLC). It is a leadership institution that is actually producing future leaders by training the youth of our country.

The basic characteristics of leader are to lead and bring changes and to do this you don't need to join political parties or start a revolution; you just need to motivate yourself to inspire others. These examples reveal that to show your leadership quality you don't need to do something big; your small actions can also bring out the leader in you.
