14 BCL men served show cause notices
The Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) authorities on Thursday served show cause notices on 14 Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists for bringing out a procession on the campus defying ban.
The proctorial body issued the order at a meeting in the afternoon, campus sources said.
The BCL activists will have to respond to the notices within the next five working days, said Sust acting proctor M Emadul Haque.
The university authorities imposed a ban on all sorts of organisational activities arranged by student bodies on the campus after January 18 this year to avert violence.
The university reopened on that day after a two-month closure following a factional clash of BCL, a pro-Awami League student organisation.
On November 20 last year, a BCL activist was killed and 17 others were injured in the clash over establishing supremacy on the campus, prompting the authorities to keep the university closed for an indefinite period.
