14 BNP-led alliance men face arrest
A Dhaka court yesterday issued arrest warrants against 14 leaders and activists of BNP-led 20-party alliance, including BNP standing committee member, MK Anwar, and Barkatullah Bulu, in a case filed for torching a bus in January this year.
BNP leaders Habib-Un-Nabi Khan Sohel, former BNP lawmaker Salauddin Ahmed, Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, Shirin Sultana and Khairul Kabir Khokon are also among the accused.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court gave the order after accepting the charges against 34 charged-sheeted accused.
Of the 34 accused, 20, including Aman, are now on bail while the rest were shown fugitives in the charge sheet submitted by Sub-Inspector of Wari Police Station Shah Alam -- also the investigating officer of the case -- on September 10.
The court also directed the officer-in-charge of Wari Police Station to submit reports on the execution of arrest warrants by January 25, 2016.
According to the case statement, a group of BNP-led alliance leaders and activists torched a bus by throwing petrol bombs on Dhaka-Adamjee highway near Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover on January 30.
