5 bus workers arrested for 'raping' two girls in Barisal

Five bus workers were arrested in Barisal city yesterday following a case filed over an alleged rape of two girls in January this year.

The arrestees -- Roni, Tareq, Sujon, Debasis and Nasir -- are members of Workers Union of Barisal regional committee. They were sent to jail.

On January 23, the girls -- aged around 18 -- with a male relative boarded a Banaripara-bound bus in Natubazar of Barisal. When the bus reached at Rampatty, the six bus workers including the driver and helper, gang-raped them after tying the relative, said police.

Police are trying to arrest Mijan, one of the accused.
