5,000kg of hilsa fry seized

Bangladesh Coast Guard yesterday seized 5,000kg of hilsa fry from a launch in the river Dhaleshwari at the launch terminal of Munshiganj.

The Dhaka-bound launch, MV Mahin Rifat, which was loaded with passengers, was coming from Bhola carrying the fish fry in 50 drums.

Lt Commander Sayeed M Kased of Coast Guard said the hilsha fry were being taken to Dhaka for marketing.

The team of Coast Guard, however, could not find the owners of the hilsa fry and the vessel of which documents were seized. The seized fry were later distributed among the poor at orphanages.
