Sixty-five winners of a nationwide book reading competition organised in June were awarded at British Council on the capital's Fuller Road yesterday on the occasion of World Book Day 2015.

British Council and Daffodil Education Network jointly organised the competition with the theme "Own a book, read a book" to create new readers and to popularise English reading habit among students and mass people.

Around 3,000 people took part in the contest under four groups from which the 65 were chosen through tests in September 2015.

Dhaka University Vice Chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique distributed laptops and certificates among the top scorers of each group.

The top scorers are Humaira Habib Oroni of Udayan School, Dhaka (Group –A), Siddhartha Sankar Das of St Joseph High School, Dhaka (Group-B), Tama Chowdhury of Chittagong Grammar School (Group-C) and Ramita Atiq of United International University (Group-D).
