BNP announces Independence Day observance programme

BNP has chalked out weeklong programmes including a discussion in the capital's Jatiya Press Club on March 24 and paying homage at the National Martyrs' Memorial in Savar and the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar grave of its founder Ziaur Rahman on March 26 to observe Independence Day with "due dignity. 
It is not clear whether the BNP-led 20-party alliance's ongoing hartal and blockade will be withdrawn on March 26 and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be going to the two venues. 
"It is the BNP chief who will take the final decision to this end," a BNP leader close to Khaleda told The Daily Star last night.
The programmes were announced in a release undersigned by BNP Assistant Office Secretary Asadul Karim Shahin.
