BNP's Rangpur city unit president was picked up by, as per his family, plainclothes law enforcers from his residence in the city's Shalban-Mistripara area on Friday around 4:30am.

Mozzafar Hossain's whereabouts remain unknown till filing of this report last night.

Some 10 to 12 men picked up Mozzafar's nephew Rubayat from a neighbouring house and used him to call and get Mozzafar to open his door on the first floor of the two-storey residence, the BNP leader's daughter Mahin Tabassum told The Daily Star.

Claiming to be law enforcers, the men asked Mozzafar to come with them and they left on a microbus, she said, adding that they did not show any identity card while no weapon was visible.

Mahin said they searched offices of law enforcing agencies, hospitals and courts but could not trace him.

Officer-in-charge of Rangpur Kotwali Police Station, Md Abdul Quader Jilani, said they had not picked up Mozzafar.
