Police yesterday arrested six people in connection with the death of a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinee, whose body was recovered in Mymensingh's Sadar upazila on Friday evening, three days after he went missing.

The deceased was identified as Akash Mia (17) -- son of Akram Hossain, ex-member of Astadhar Union Parishad. Akash was an SSC examinee from Astadhar Bahumukhi High School, police said.

Quoting family members, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Firoz Talukder said Akash was in a relationship with a girl, and they got married, appearing before a court on May 2 without family consent.

On Wednesday, Ziarul Islam, the girl's father and a member of Astadhar UP, allegedly called Akash to his house, and since then, he had gone missing, the OC said.

As Akash did not return home, his family informed police, and law enforcers visited Ziarul's house on Friday.

As an officer found blood stain at the house, police searched the premises and recovered the decomposed body from there. The body was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Victim's father Akram lodged a case with Kotwali Police Station, accusing 14 persons on Friday night.

Soon after filing the case, police started drives and arrested Ziarul (50), his wife Rozina Akter (40), son Nazmul Islam (20), daughter (17), brother Julhas Mia (45), and sister-in-law Nargis Akter (37), early yesterday, the OC said.

They were produced before a Mymensingh court, which sent them to jail.
