Bus set afire at Karwan Bazar
A passenger bus was set afire in front of the Petrobangla Bhaban at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka this afternoon.
No casualty was reported in the arson attack that took place at 12:50pm, Fire Service and Civil Defence sources said.
The sabotage occurred on the second day of 72-hour hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance protesting the killings of opposition leaders and activists in the name of crossfire and for the filing of false cases against alliance leaders.
The alliance called shutdown on top of the ongoing countrywide blockade started January 6.
In the political violence since then, seventy five people have so far been killed, mostly in arson attacks.
Over 300 people have been injured in petrol bomb attacks so far. It appears that blockaders have taken a new strategy to create panic among people by hurling crude bombs at them.
