Chinese national stabbed dead by compatriot in Sylhet
A Chinese man was stabbed by his flatmate after an altercation at their apartment in Sylhet city's Pathantula area yesterday morning.
The deceased was identified as Wentao Wei (48), hailing from Shanxi of China. He was an employee of the power plant at Kumargaon area in Sylhet.
His flatmate, a Chinese national, is also an employee of the power plant, and was injured after being stabbed by Wentao.
The flatmate was detained by police and is undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
SM Abu Farhad, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said, "Along with several other Chinese employees of the power plant, the two used to stay in a rented flat at Pathantula area. In the morning, all others left for work while the duo stayed back."
"At around 8am, they got into an altercation and ended up stabbing each other. One of them died while the other is critically injured," he said.
After learning of the incident from the Chinese men's neighbours, police recovered the dead body. They took the injured man to the hospital after rescuing and detaining him, said the OC.
