Elaborating the curses of corruption and its negative impact to the society speakers at a workshop in Rajshahi unequivocally called for collective efforts of all quarters for combating institutional corruption.

They laid importance on creating awareness among the mass people, especially the young generation, to eliminate corruption from the society. Concerted effort is crucially important to check corruption, they stressed.

Anti Corruption Commissioner (ACC) organised the workshop styled "Public Hearing and Peoples Empowerment" at the conference hall of deputy commissioner yesterday.

ACC Commissioner Dr Nasir Uddin and Commissioner-in-Charge of Rajshahi Division Munir Hossain addressed the meeting as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair.

ACC Divisional Director Abu Sayeed, Deputy Director Fayaz Alam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Ataul Gani and Civil Surgeon Dr Nilufar Ferdous also spoke. More than 37 district level officers were present at the meeting.

Dr Nasir underscored the need for forging social movement against corruption for building a poverty-free Bangladesh and community participation towards the anti-corruption campaign has become urgent to this end.

He urged the conscious people to create an anti-corruption sentiment among students and young generation for economic progress as it is impossible for the ACC alone to fight corruption.

An anti-corruption sentiment should be created among the young and future generation of the country so that they can lead the nation in future to a proper direction for economic emancipation of the people, he said.
