Container seized at Ctg port over false declaration

Customs Intelligence officials yesterday seized a container carrying plastic sheets at Chittagong Port over false declaration of the goods to evade revenue.

One Mark International, Chittagong imported it from China last month declaring the weight at 14.6 tonnes, said sources at Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.

The officials, however, found the weight at 18.3 tonnes after examination, they said.

Moinul Khan, director general of the directorate, said the importing firm tried to evade revenue worth Tk 1.42 lakh.
