Death anniversary

Today is the 27th death anniversary of former President Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, said a press release.

An organiser of the 1971 Liberation War, he became the president of Bangladesh in 1972.

In 1971, he resigned as the vice-chancellor of Dhaka University after two students were killed by Pakistani army on the campus.

Later, he played vital role in mobilising world opinion in favour of Bangladesh during the Liberation War.

His family members requested all to pray for the salvation of his departed soul.
