Vibrant debates and a colourful cultural event marked the second day of the four-day international conference organised by Asian University for Women (AUW) Model United Nations (UN) Club, on its campus in Chittagong city yesterday.

Sessions of six committees--United Nations Security Council, Inter-national Tribunal for Law and Sea, Economic and Social Council, Unicef, UN Women and International Press--resumed yesterday.

The delegates focused on building their respective positions on the set agenda through speeches and moderated and un-moderated caucuses, said Erina Mahmud, a student of AUW, and also an organiser of the conference. A cultural event titled "Global Village" was also held where students from different countries participated, she said.

Anjuma Tanha, secretary general of the conference, said, "We are seeking to provide an opportunity to all the participants to discuss and debate about crucial economic, social and political issues."
