An inter-ministerial meeting yesterday asked officials concerned to accept cases over child repression as soon as the allegations are lodged.

The meeting, chaired by Secretary of Women and Children Affairs Ministry Nasima Begum, also decided to take legal actions against officials violating the directive.

"No matter where the child repression incident has taken place, it should be ensured that the victims or their families face no hassles to file the case, and that speedy actions are taken in connection with the allegations," said a release about the meeting.

The meeting also came up with instructions to deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers to discuss the topic of women and children repression at the monthly meeting of the disciplinary committee.

It also asked officials to take programmes to raise awareness against women and children repression. The meeting stressed conducting special drives to stop child labour and recommended preparing a framework to implement the laws. It also decided to form a child repression monitoring committee, to be headed by the secretary of the women and child affairs ministry.
