Driver attempts to rape Ctg female doctor

A CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver allegedly attempted to rape a female doctor, who was the passenger, on her way back home after work in Chittagong city on Thursday night.

The doctor, around 26, however, managed to save herself as locals and night guards saved her after hearing her cry for help, and handed the driver, Md Jamshed, 35, of Hatiya in Noakhali, to the police, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Nuruzzaman of Panchlaish police.

She hired the auto-rickshaw from the GEC Intersection to go to Kunjachhaya Residential area around 9:00pm, when the driver turned into a secluded road of Forest Gate area in Bangladesh Forest Research Institute, with an excuse of "avoiding" traffic jam, said Nuruzzaman. A case was filed.
