'Drug peddler' dies falling from 7-storey Old Dhaka building

Following a "chase by police", an alleged drug peddler died after falling from the roof of a seven-storey building in Huseni Dalan area of Old Dhaka last night.

The deceased, Mohammad Kalam, 35, was a resident of the area.

Kalam entered the multistoried building as cops kept chasing him around 9:00pm and, at one stage, he fell off the roof, his stepson Mohammad Tusher, 15, quoted locals as saying who claimed to have witnessed the incident, while talking to The Daily Star.

Faizur Rahman, assistant commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (Lalbagh Zone), visited the spot.

No witness brought the allegation against police of chasing the man, he claimed, saying that they would investigate the matter.
