DSCC employees threaten strike over assault by cops
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad yesterday threatened to go for an indefinite strike if the policemen involved in assaulting two DSCC officials are not arrested within three days.
The DSCC employees formed a human chain in front of the capital's Jatiya Press Club demanding the arrest and punishment of those involved in the assault.
Addressing the human chain, the employees' leaders threatened to go for an indefinite strike, stop garbage removal, switching on and off the streetlights and besiege police stations if their demands are not met.
DSCC engineer Abdul Mazid and its cleaning inspector Bikash Chandra Das were allegedly assaulted by policemen in different areas of the city on January 14 and January 16 respectively.
