Ethnic minority girl 'commits suicide'

An ethnic minority girl allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her room in a hostel of Mymensingh Mahila Degree College in Sadar upazila yesterday.

The deceased Mimi Chiran, 20, was a second-year student of the college. She hailed from Haluaghat upazila of the district.

Police said other residents of the hostel found Mimi's room locked from inside and informed the college authority as they were not getting any response from her.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police also recovered a suicide note -- reading,"None is responsible for my death" -- from the spot, said Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Kamrul Islam.
