Ex-BM college principal, JCD leader jailed in Barisal

A Barisal court on Wednesday jailed former principal of a college for four years and a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader of the unit for two years in a case filed for misappropriating funds of the institution.

Nurul Anwar, former principal of Government BM College, Barisal was also fined Tk 4 lakh in default to suffer one more year in jail.

Abu Zafar Shikdar, then JCD leader, was also fined Tk 1 lakh in default to suffer six more months in prison.

According to the prosecution, the duo embezzled Tk 1.78 lakh which was supposed to be spent for repair works of the college in 2002.

After investigation, Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case against them with Kotwali Police Station on March 31, 2009.
