Fakhrul's bail hearing Nov 9

The High Court yesterday fixed November 9 for hearing the rules over granting bail to BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three arson and vandalism cases.

The HC set the date after Fakhrul's lawyer Zainul Abedin prayed for hearing the rules.

Following three bail petitions filed by Fakhrul, the same HC bench on June 21 this year granted ad-interim bail and issued three rules upon the government to explain why he would not get regular bail.

On November 2, the apex court ordered Fakhrul to surrender before a lower court and asked the HC to hear and dispose of the rules in two weeks.

A Dhaka court, on November 3, sent the BNP leader to jail on surrender in connection with the cases lodged with Paltan police in the capital on January 4, 5 and 6 in line with the Supreme Court order.
