Fire guts seven houses in Jamalpur

Seven houses were gutted by a fire at village Purba Battajor in Battajor union of Jamalpur's Bakshiganj upazila early yesterday.

The fire originated from a mosquito coil at a cowshed of Tara Miah and caused damages worth about Tk 40 lakh, said locals and sources at the upazila administration. Locals doused the fire after an hour long effort. Bakshiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nargis Parveen distributed Tk 20,000 and eight bundles of corrugated iron sheets among the affected families.
