Four held with Yaba

Detectives early yesterday arrested four alleged drug peddlers with 35,000 Yaba tablets from the capital's Jatrabari area.

The arrestees are Md Shukkur Ali alias Dealer Ali, Boss Harun, Yaba Karim and Harun-ur-Rashid.

Based on secret information, a special team of Dhaka Metropolitan Police conducted a drive in the area around 12:25am and challenged a Nisan jeep, said sources at the DB headquarters.

Searching the vehicle, the plainclothes police seized the Yaba pills and arrested the four.

During a preliminary interrogation, they revealed that drug emperor Jubayer has long been involved in smuggling Yaba into Bangladesh from Myanmar through Teknaf in Cox's Bazar.

Shukkur Ali, a driver of Hanif Paribahan, used to bring the consignments to Dhaka, while the other arrestees sold those.
