Girl rescued from Cox's Bazar, 2 held
Police rescued a two-and-a-half-year-old girl from Eidgah area of Cox's Bazar Sadar early yesterday, a day after she was abducted from Maijpara area of Chittagong city.
Two people -- Shahed Hossain Bappa, 25, a neighbour, and his supposed girlfriend Sumaiya Akter Sumi, 20, of Eidgah area -- were also arrested in this connection.
On Monday, Bappa abducted the girl while she was playing in front of her house and took the girl to Cox's Bazar to Sumi, said Bandar police. A general diary was also lodged on that day by the girl's father. Later, the abductors demanded Tk 12 lakh as ransom and threatened to kill the girl otherwise, cops added.
As the caller asked to give the money to Bappa at the city's Alongkar Intersection area, police arrested him and rescued the girl following information gleaned from him.
