HC stays Baira polls for 1 month

The High Court yesterday stayed the process for holding election to the Bangladesh Association of International Recruiting Agencies (Baira) for a month.

The court also issued a rule upon the authorities concerned to explain in 10 days why they should not be directed to include the name of Md Abdullah, a member of Baira, in the voter list.

The HC gave the order following a petition filed by Abdullah, owner of recruiting agency M/S Trade Information Ltd.

Petitioner's lawyer ABM Altaf Hossain said the election was scheduled for April 28. Abdullah, an aspirant, has paid his annual subscription fee but the election board dropped his name from the voter list.
