Hindu temple donation box looted in Demra

Miscreants smashed a donation box of a Hindu temple in Dhaka's Demra early yesterday and stole the money contributed by people over the last five months.

Judging by the contribution the temple usually received, president of the temple committee Babul Krishna Sarkar estimated that about Tk 30,000 was looted.

He said the wooden box  was inside the locked collapsible gate of the temple. But since the box was kept within arm's reach from the gate, miscreants could smash it with a sharp weapon from outside the gate and took away whatever was inside, he said.

Sarkar filed a general dairy with Demra Police Station in this connection after devotees found the broken box in the morning.
