IFRC honours PM for disaster management role

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent (IFRC) has honoured Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina with a special certificate and a crest for her outstanding success in disaster management.

IFRC Secretary General Elhadj As Sey formally handed over the certificate and the crest to the prime minister at a ceremony at Gono Bhaban on Sunday, said a press release from the Prime Minister's Office yesterday.

Elhadj highly appreciated Hasina for her leading role in global efforts for building 100 crore disaster-hit people of the world as more "disaster-tolerant" ones by 2025.

IFRC Asia Pacific Region Director Xavier Castellanos, Chairman of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Hafiz Ahmed Mazumdar and Vice-Chairman Dr Habibe Millat were, among others, present at the programme.
