Interest-free Loans: 2,000 lawyers appeal to SCBA
Around 2,000 Supreme Court lawyers appealed for loan to Supreme Court Bar Association after it had decided to provide interest-free loan to its members during the coronavirus crisis.
"We're still receiving applications. We will scrutinise those next week and then start giving loans," SCBA President Advocate AM Amin Uddin told The Daily Star yesterday.
He said SCBA executive committee will hold a meeting to decide on the amount of loan.
On April 15, the committee decided to provide the loans. On April 16, SCBA Secretary Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal told this newspaper that the loan term will be three years. "We have already created a fund of Tk 50 lakh," he had said.
