JCI Dhaka East holds Project Nari

JCI Dhaka East, an international youth organisation, today hosted “Project Nari”, an initiative to create awareness among the female workers of a RMG factory regarding their feminine health.

It is the second year that JCI Dhaka East has initiated a health awareness workshop with the female workers of a readymade garment factory, said a press release.

The workshop was jointly organised by SIM Group and JCI Dhaka East and held at an RMG factory owned by the company in Rupganj of Narayanganj, and coordinated by Shahin Sultana, chair of peace committee and Shah GuftaNaz, local director of JCI Dhaka East, the release added.

AsibMustabaAkram, local president of JCI Dhaka East, presided over the programme and said that the RMG industry generates the highest amount of revenue in Bangladesh and is also the only sector which has more female workforce than men.

“It is important that the female RMG workers are in good health and aware of their feminine wellbeing, so that they can contribute towards the country’s GDP even more,” he said.

Talking at the programme, ShoaibMozaffar Hasan, director of SIM group, said that female workforce is a major factor in RMG industries in Bangladesh, and ensuring their wellbeing is essential in smooth operations of the factories.

At least 50 female workers of SIM Group factories attended the workshop on feminine health, conducted by Dr Nabila Nujhat Chowdhury and FatemaTuzzannatBrishty, the release added.

The doctors spoke about feminine health, conducted a general medical check-up and also provided one-to-one sessions to those workers seeking advice regading various health hazards.
