JU suspends chief security officer
Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities yesterday suspended its chief security officer, Sudipta Shaheen, for controversial activities during his four-year service.
An office order was issued yesterday, signed by JU acting registrar Rahima Kaneez, approved by a virtual syndicate meeting held on November 16.
He will continue to receive his livelihood allowance; this order will be in effect from November 16.
According to the order, the decision was taken based on complaints of a news presenter of a private TV channel and alumni.
Over a dozen complaints of assault, blackmail, extortion, and verbal abuse of female visitors had been submitted to the university authorities against him.
