Man brutally murdered for Tk 60,000
A man whose body was found from three different areas of Dhaka on June 15 was murdered allegedly for Tk 60,000 that he owed his business partner.
Helal Uddin (26), a mobile financial service and Flexiload shop owner, was killed by Charles Rupom Sarker and his wife Moni Sarker (18), Mashiur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Detective Branch of Police told The Daily Star.
Moni and 48-year-old Shahina Akter (Charles's mother) were arrested from Mollatek in Dakshin Khan on Thursday night, the police official said.
They also recovered Tk 33,0000 during the drive but the prime accused in the case – Charles -- managed to flee.
The husband-wife duo killed Helal as he did not repay Tk 60,000, which he had earlier borrowed from them as his share in the business, the arrestees revealed.
The two gave confessional statements before a Dhaka court and admitted their involvement in the murder.
On June 15, police recovered the bottom half of Helal's body in a sack at Dakshin Khan area, his torso near Dhaka airport and head near a sewer in Uttara.
The victim's elder brother filed a case with Dakshin Khan Police Station against unidentified persons.
Kaisar Rezby Koraishy, additional deputy commissioner of DB police, said Charles also had a mobile financial service shop just beside Helal's shop. In November last year, Charles was arrested by police in a narcotics case and was in jail till February this year, he said.
After being released on bail, Charles again tried to run the business but was suffering from fund crisis, said Rezby, who investigated the case.
"We are conducting a drive to arrest the prime accused," he added.
