Man killed by 'robbers' in Gazipur

Armed robbers killed a freedom fighter and looted valuables from a house at Salna Kathora Moishanbari area of Gazipur city early yesterday.

The deceased was Paresh Chandra Ghosh, 65. His brother Naresh Chandra Ghosh, 58, and nephews Bidhan Krishna Ghosh, 32, and Mrinal Chandra Ghosh, 28, were injured in the attack. Vicim's cousin Ashutosh said around 10 masked robbers stormed into Naresh's house by cutting the grille of the gate around 2:00am. They hacked the residents indiscriminately with sharp weapons and looted valuables from the house. Paresh was shot dead when his son screamed saying he recognised their faces, he added.
