Nasir expects PM's help for development

Awami League (AL) backed mayor candidate AZM Nasir Uddin of the upcoming Chittagong City Corporation election yesterday said he believed the prime minister would provide him all sorts of cooperation building a modern city since she already supported his candidacy. 
Starting to conduct campaigns, he assured undertaking development projects as per experts' guidelines, which he said had not been taken earlier, and taking suggestions from locals for, what he termed was, a city only by name and in black and white and not in the true sense and not developed as expected.

Talking to journalists, he termed improper the Election Commission instructions on Bangladesh Jela O Bivagiyo Krira Songhotok Parishad to postpone a reception for the Bangladesh cricket team scheduled for yesterday over apprehension it would disrupt the electoral environment.

"If the EC had instructed me...I would have not gone there...the Bangladesh cricket team is our pride…I think, through this decision, people of Chittagong have been deprived," said Nasir, the parishad's former president.
Nasir campaigned in wards 37 to 41 and Bandar, Munshipara and Jorpukur areas after getting elephant as the election symbol in the morning.

He started off paying tribute marking revolutionary Binod Bihari Chowdhury's second death anniversary and visiting the Halishahar grave of AL leader MA Aziz.
