No threat of terrorist attack during Durga Puja: IGP
There has been no threat of any terrorist attack during Durga Puja, said Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Hoque yesterday.
"I do not see any threat; however, sufficient security has been arranged after concerns were raised by different quarters following murders of two foreigners," he said at a views-exchange meeting titled "Law and order, Public Safety and Durga Puja".
The meeting was held at the Dhaka Range DIG office to brief journalists about security measures taken ahead of the puja.
Special instructions have been given to superintendents of police of the districts where Tazia Michil, a mourning procession, will be brought out on the occasion of Muharram during Durga puja, the IGP said.
Police, Rab, Ansar and community police members would be deployed at every puja mandap, he said.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Dhaka Range police SM Mahfuzul Haque Nuruzzaman presided over the meeting.
