Obituary
Valiant freedom fighter Dr Sayed Shafiqul Alam died of heart and lung diseases at a hospital in Canberra, Australia, yesterday. He was 63.
He left behind his wife and a daughter.
Dr Alam served Rajshahi Medical College Hospital as a sonologist and was the president of Bangladesh Medical Association, and Swachip. He was also the general secretary of the Rajshahi chapter of Sammilito Sangskritik Jote, and a syndicate member of Rajshahi University from 2009 to 2012.
Lawmaker Fazle Hossain Badsha, former Rajshahi City Corporation mayor Khairuzzaman Liton and RU Vice Chancellor Prof Mizan Uddin condoled his death.
