Police yesterday started investigating the allegation by the father of a teenage domestic help Jonia that she was "raped and killed" in the capital's Kafrul.

Zakir Hossain, assistant commissioner (Pallabi zone) of Mirpur Division of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said they had attached the supplementary complaint with the first information report (FIR) of the unnatural death case and submitted those before a court.

Police found the body of Jonia, 13, next to the house of her mother's former employer at NAM Garden Officers' Quarters in Mirpur hours after she went there Sunday.

Initially, police said Jonia died after she fell from the roof of the 10-storey building.

They registered an unnatural death case on Sunday and accepted the supplementary complaint from the girl's father Osman.

On Monday, three employees of the apartment block were remanded for three days each while another for two days, said police. Jonia had been filling in for her sick mother who worked part time for a government official in a flat of Building-3 in NAM Garden.

Kafrul Police Sub-inspector Kamruzzaman, also investigation officer of the case, said if required police would send samples to laboratory for DNA profiling.
