Rasel Chy wins Syngenta Photography Award
Bangladeshi photographer Rasel Chowdhury has won the second prize in the Syngenta Photography Award-2015.
The winners of the Syngenta Photography Award-2015 were announced at a ceremony in London yesterday.
The Syngenta Photography Award is an international competition which aims to stimulate dialogue and raise awareness about significant global challenges through photography.
More than 2,000 professional and amateur photographers from all over the world submitted applications for the award with the theme "Scarcity-Waste".
American photographer Mustafah Abdulaziz was the winner in the Professional Commission category for his "Water" series. Rasel Chowdhury's photography series "Desperate Urbanization" taken in South Keraniganj of the capital got the second prize for him in the category.
Rasel Chowdhury's work has been published in numerous media outlets, exhibited internationally, and awarded the Ian Parry Scholarship, Getty Image Emergent Artist Award and the Magnum Expression Award.
Photographs by the six finalists are included in The Syngenta Photography Award "Scarcity–Waste" exhibition at Somerset House from March 11 to April 10, 2015.
