Raushan meets Hasina

Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Raushan Ershad last night held a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, leader of the House, at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

The one-on-one meeting continued for around half an hour, said insiders in Jatiya Party (JP).

Raushan, also a presidium member of JP, on Sunday requested JP chief HM Ershad to defer party council scheduled to be held on May 14. The appeal was, however, rejected by Ershad.

The party insiders said they might have discussed the issue.

Emerging from the meeting, Raushan told reporters that she met the PM to highlight several issues, including development of the newly formed Mymensingh division from where Raushan was elected an MP.

".. I have requested the premier to establish an education board in my division," Raushan said.

The opposition leader said she also discussed with the PM the recently held Union Parishad election. She, however, declined to elaborate.
