Different rights organisations and political parties yesterday condemned the killing of four people in a clash between law enforcers and locals in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong on Monday.

They also demanded there be a judicial investigation into the incident. Thirty people were also injured in the clash over installation of a coal-based power plant.

Expressing deep concern over the incident, Ain o Salish Kendra (ASK) in a statement, said "We strongly condemn the law enforcers' exercise of limitless power."

Condemning the police's action on the protesters, Bangladesh Poribesh Andolon (Bapa) said in another statement, "It is simply unacceptable for police to open fire on protesters and shoot to kill."

Besides, Gonotantrik Bam Morcha, Bangladesh Revolutionary Workers Party and Bangladesh Chhatra Union also protested the killing.
