Road crashes kill 3 including newly elected UP member

A newly elected Union Parishad member was killed when a truck hit him while he was standing beside the road in Dhulauri area of Gomostapur upazila in Chapainawabganj yesterday.

The deceased Sadekul Islam, 35, of Bhagolpur village was a member of ward-8 of Rohonpur union in the upazila.

In Dinajpur, Shamim Akter, 45, of Sialkot village was killed when a truck hit his motorcycle on Dinajpur-Bogra highway at Ambari in Parbatipur upazila on Sunday evening.

In Kaharol upazila of the district, Joynal Ahmed, 40, of Nayabad Guchchhagram was killed as his tractor skidded off the road in Kantanagar Temple area yesterday.

Meanwhile, at least 16 people were injured when a pickup van hit a roadside tree after the driver lost his control over the vehicle on Birganj-Jharbari road in Birganj upazila of the district on Sunday evening.
