Road crashes kill 5, injure 7 cops

Five people were killed and seven cops injured in road accidents in four districts yesterday.

In Faridpur Sadar, Alam Biswas, 50, a farmer of Purbo Gangabordi area was killed and seven cops were injured when a police van ran him over and hit a tree after the driver lost his control over the vehicle on Dhaka-Khulna highway in the area.

In Gopalganj Sadar, two motorcycle riders were killed when their vehicle collided head-on with a bus on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Pathalia area.

One of the deceased was Idris Molla, 60, of Dakkhin Fukra village. However, the identity of another could not be known immediately.

In Satkhira, Mithun Mondol, 22, of Kadakati village was killed when his motorcycle hit a tree after he lost control over the vehicle in the village under Ashashuni upazila yesterday.

In Jhenidah, Subal Haldar, 45, of Sreenathpur village was killed when a truck ran him over from behind in Moheshpur upazila. He was a vegetable trader at Gurdah Bazar.
