Road crashes kill 7, hurt 5

Seven people died and five others were injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday.
In Pabna, three people were killed and two others injured as a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was sandwiched between two buses when a narcotic team stopped a bus during a drive on Pabna-Ishwardi highway in Atmail Bazar area of Sadar upazila.
The deceased were Rahima Begum, 55, her daughter-in-law Dali Khatun, 28 of Ishwardi upazila and the auto-rickshaw driver Abul Kalam, 45.
Following the incident angry mob chased the team and put up a barricade on the highway protesting the accident. The narcotics officials however managed to escape the scene.
Samsul Islam, a resident of the area and an eyewitness, alleged that the team regularly collects toll in the name of checking.
Khabir Uddin, inspector of Pabna narcotic department, claimed that they had conducted the drive on information and the accident occurred alter so they are not responsible for it.
Meanwhile in Bagerhat, Mithu Golder, 45, of Jugihati village died and his co-rider was injured when a microbus rammed into his motorbike on Bagerhat-Mawa road in Sadhur Battala area of Fakirhat upazila.
In Munshiganj, three people died and four others were injured when three-wheeler and a bus collided head-on on Dhaka-Maowa highway at Modinimandal in Louhaganj upazila.
Of the deceased two were Siddikur Rahman, 65, and Md Alauddin.
