Road crashes kill 8

Eight people were killed and 13 others were injured in road accidents in the country yesterday.

A Comilla correspondent reports, a woman died while her husband and brother-in-law were injured as a bus hit the microbus they were in at Amirabad on Dhaka-Chittagong highway.

The deceased was Ruma Rani Barman, 18, wife of Rajan Barman of Brahmanbaria district.  The injured were rushed to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.

Our Chittagong correspondent reports, Somaya Begum, 8, daughter of Nasir Uddin of Moheshkhali, died as a CNG-run three-wheeler hit her at Patenga in the port city.

Our Bogra correspondent reports, a married couple was killed while the motorcyclist was injured as a truck hit the motorbike carrying them at Sonahata in Dhunat upazila in Bogra.

The dead were Momotaz Uddin, 45, and Shefali Khatun, 35, of Jorshimul village. Obaidul was taken to Dhunat Health Complex.

Meanwhile in Bogra town, Md Rifat, 20, of Shajahanpur upazila, died as his motorbike veered out of control and a bus of Agamon Paribahan ran it over on Gohail road.

Our Pabna correspondent adds, three women were killed while 10 other people injured as a bus of Anik Paribahan collided head-on with a truck in Baniagati on Dhaka-Sirajganj highway.

One of the dead was identified as Chaina Begum, 38, of Kurigram. The injured were taken to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
