Road crashes kill five in three dists

Five people, including a three-year-old girl, were killed and two others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday and Saturday.

In Chittagong city, Bibi Joynab, 3, daughter of Mostafa Kamal, of Outer Stadium area was killed and her sister injured when a pick-up van hit them while they were sleeping at Outer Stadium on Saturday.

The injured is Mokarama, 7. Police said they seized the vehicle and detained its driver Abul Hashem.

Meanwhile, Roksana Akter, 30, of Halishahar area was killed when a microbus hit her while she was crossing the road in front of Agrabad Fire Service and Civil Defense in the city yesterday.

In Khagrachhari, two motorcycle riders were killed when a truck collided head-on with their motorcycle in Baillyachhari area of Matiranga upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Jayantu Tripura, 22, and Sukandra Tripura, 45, of Punki Karbari Para area in Guimara upazila of the district.

In Jhalakathi, Selim Howlader, 45, of Barguna Sadar was killed when a motorcycle hit him while he was crossing the Barisal-Khulna highway at Galua of Rajapur yesterday.

The motorcyclist was injured in the accident.
