Suspended SCC mayor Ariful gets bail to visit ailing mother

After 15 months in jail, Ariful Haque Chowdhury, suspended mayor of Sylhet City Corporation got bail and returned to Sylhet yesterday to see his mother as she got admitted to a hospital due to deteriorating health condition.

Ariful, who also is suffering from different kinds of physical problems, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Monday and after visiting his mother, he got admitted to the hospital where she was under treatment, said family members.

He got 15-day bail in the murder case from the High Court on March 22 and in an explosives case filed over the murder from the Habiganj Court on Sunday. He is an accused in the murder of former finance minister ASM Kibria.
